Do you home educate / home school? Are you looking for something to link in with the national curriculum or your home education programme. At The Nests Little Smallholding the 'Thought for Food Project' offers a wide range of core subjects including life skills, self development, wellbeing, creativity and healthy living.
Come and learn all about farming, life cycles, food production and our environment. This is learning with a hands on approach in a safe secure farming environment, along with classroom based learning. Lessons are adapted for all ages, all styles of learning with an assessment of learning throughout.
We offer a varied session of outdoor learning including feeding, mucking out, bedding up, grooming and animal care. We have goats, poultry, sheep, pigs, calves and small furry critters. You will learn all about the produce of the animals, the life cycle of the chicken and egg, watch demonstrations of our milking goats and then try for your self on our fibreglass life-like milking goat.
All sessions include crafting with natural seasonal finds, learning, reading, writing and quizzes. A real fun-packed session that will get your children out, about and learning through a whole range of learning and development techniques.
We offer group home education sessions of up to 12 pupils at a time; when booking as a group, the cost is £6 per pupil and adults or careers are free of charge. Sessions run for 2 hours at a time.
