Welcome to The Nests Little Smallholding

The Nests Little Smallholding is situated in tranquil countryside in the heart of Pendle. With views of Todmorden in the distance, Pendle Hill behind and the Ribble Valley tucked in either side. The smallholding is run by first generation farming family Georgie, her partner Adam and their ever growing herd of children - Billy, Dolly and baby Peggy.

Georgie's previous career - before farming took over - was teaching, therefore she is delighted to be combining her two passions with a new venture, 'Thought for Food,' which is based at The Nests Little Smallholding. The main goal with the Thought for Food project is to educate young people about agriculture, to help children learn and to give them valuable insight to where their food comes from. All of this whilst having fun along the way and interacting with the animals. Children can visit the on site education classroom “The Coop,“ where ex-teacher Georgie runs farming education lessons and workshops. For further information, please visit the Education page.

The smallholding is home to all varieties of livestock, a true mixture of hooves, paws, trotters and feet! An eco-friendly barn houses the cattle, sheep and goats, which are all reared slowly, in an ethical farming approach. The livestock are all allowed to roam freely - this often means the chickens and ducks can be found laying eggs in Peggy's pram!

The smallholding rears free to roam, ethically farmed meat and free range eggs throughout the year; this includes pork, lamb, goat, chicken, seasonal vegetables and Christmas turkeys. We have a large selection of chickens and ducks of various breeds and ages which are available to buy straight off the poultry paddock. Hatching eggs are also available when laying during the Spring, Summer and Autumn.
